European March to be held 14 October

The democratic forces submitted to the Minsk city executive council a request for holding the European March “For Freedom!" The European March is due at 2 p.m. in Oktyabrskaya Square of Minsk. The March has the following route: along the side-walk of Nezavisimosty Avenue from Oktyabrskaya Square to the site in front of the National Library of the Republic of Belarus where the meeting is to be held. That has been declared by the deputy chairman of the BNF Party Viktar Vashkevich , international coordinator of the Charter’97 Adrei Sannikov, chairman of the United Civil Party Anatol Lyabedzka , chairman of the “For Freedom!” movement Alyaksandr Milinkevich , coordinator of the European Coalition, chairman of the organizing committee of the Belarusian Socio-Democratic Party (Narodnaya Gramada) Mikalai Statkevich.

Minsk hopes that the European Union will enter talks with Belarus on eased two-way travel in the near future, Andrey Hiro, head of the Belarusian foreign ministry`s consular department, told reporters in Minsk on Monday, BelaPAN reported.

Representatives of the State Security Committee (KGB) of Belarus will partake in an antiterrorism exercise of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia at the Baikonur launch site, BelTA learnt from Nikolai Ivinsky, commander of a special unit of Belarus’ KGB’s special operations team Alpha.

Alyaksandr Lukashenka signed the edict on additional financial support for the national state-owned TV Company’s staff. In compliance with the document the budget part of the company‘s staff wages is to be increased by 40 %.
