International Criminal Radavan Karadzic to Hide in Belarus 19:13, 11/09/2007

In November 1997 when the elections where to be held in Bosnia under the supervision of the NATO leader of the Bosnian Serbs Radavan Karadzic was taken on board the Russian plane to Belarus. Here he lived for several months. This information is derived from the “World and Punishment” book of the former employee of the Hague court marshal, “Le Monde” journalist Florence Hartman, the BBC informs.

8-9 September night strike of the Belaruskaly miners was organized under the “Italian” procedure: the miners descended underground but didn’t start working. Around 80% miners being underground went on strike, the Belarusian Helsinki committee representative in Saligorsk Leonid Marhotko reported.

Solidarity action with the Young Front activist Yaraslau Grischenya at the Baranovichi district court building continued only several minutes. The youth activists installed several street banners and started shouting “Freedom!” and “Long Live Belarus!” but were surrounded by the special militia regiment (former OMON). Around 20 people were detained. In several hours all the detained but youth leader Sevyarinets were released. The politician was arrested for 17 nights.

As the Interfax was reported at the press office of the head of the state Alyaksandr Lukashenka learned the major provisions of the document from his associate Syargei Tkachou and chairman of the presidium of the National Academy of Sciences Mikhail Myasnikovich.

The Baranavichi district court sentenced a well-known policymaker Pavel Sevyarinets to 17 nights of administrative arrest along with 20 base rates penalty. The youth leader was detained yesterday near the Baranavichi district court where he had come together with dozens other people to support the young activist Yaraslau Grischenya charged with participation in the unregistered organization. This time Sevyarinets who several days before had left the Brest remand prison after 15 nights arrest for his book presentation was admitted guilty of resisting the militia, of organizing unsanctioned actions and minor disorderly conduct. Under the first absurd conviction he was given 2 nights of arrest, under the third -15 and under the third he was penalized.
