Lukashenka: Gazprom making profit out of Belarus :: Charter'97 :: News

Alexander Lukashenka thinks that Russian Gazprom makes profit out of Belarus. “Gazprom is having good money here and making profit out of Belarus”, - Lukashenka declared in Rechytsa on Dazhynki (harvest fest).

According to him, Gazprom is going to increase the gas price by 15-20 percents. “What is our guilt before the Russian authorities – I don’t know”, - Lukashenka said, remarking that “some monopolists don’t see anything except the money”, ITAR-TASS runs.

The Belarusian ruler stressed that Belarus will have “strong motivation” in the process of making the contract for gas supplies for the next year. Belarus gives Gazprom the same profit as Germany does. So, they make their business with us, as if we were Germany”, - Lukashenka said. He doesn’t exclude that it will be difficult to sign the contract and the situation of the last year is possible.

“Everything is possible and depends on how the negotiations will be carried. But we will try to sign the contract before striking of the Kremlin chimes at New Year’s Eve“, - Lukashenka remarked.

According to him, the Belarusian side will coordinate the issues on the gas price with the issues on its transit to Europe through Belarus.
