Zelensky: Belarus Should Join The EU

The Ukrainian president said this for the first time.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that the EU enlargement should go beyond the list of states that already have the status of a candidate, but also include Belarus.

He stated this at a joint press conference with the President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola in Kyiv on Europe Day, the correspondent of European Pravda reports.

Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that Ukraine soon expects the EU steps necessary to start negotiations on Ukraine's accession, but the EU enlargement should also concern other European states.

"We have fulfilled all the conditions for the approval of the negotiating framework in June and the actual start of negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the European Union. It is also important that for other peoples who deserve to be in the European Union, European unity really works, so that they also perform their candidate status," Zelensky explained.

The President of Ukraine also outlined a list of states that he sees as part of the future of the EU.

"Europe is the Balkans and Moldova, and it will definitely be Europe Day for Georgia and Europe Day for Belarus," he said, proclaiming for the first time the vision of Ukraine regarding the future accession of Belarus to the EU.

It should be noted that the Ukrainian president for the first time stated that our country should become part of the European Union.
