17:28 Political prisoner Dashkevich to have trial in colony 6 November

The trial over one of the organization “Young Front” leader Zmiter Dashkevich is to take place 6 November. Politician Paval Seviarynets said it to BelaPAN. According to him, the trial is to take place in colony, where Dashkevich is serving his punishment.

The journalists, detained today near village Palyai (Vitebsk district) when performing their professional duties, have been set free.

The penitence prayers “for sins of communism” were served in many protestant churches in Belarus 28-29 October, timed to the Day of commemoration of the ancestors.

The participants of an action of memory of Stalin’s repressions victims have been detained in Vitebsk. 30 October local activists of the democratic parties and public organizations together with human rights activists held the action of memory on the place of mass executions during Stalin’s repressions in natural landmark Palyai.

13:25 BPF member Vatslau Areshka, having leaflets on Social March, detained

Today the activist of Belarusian Popular Front Vatslau Areshka, who had the leaflets on the Social March on him, was detained. He was guarded to the Central District Internal Affairs Department. It was said to Radio Svaboda by Valer Ukhnalou, deputy head of the Party of Communist Belarusian, head of the Social March organizing committee.

Democratic activist Aliaksandr Atroshchankau appealed to Central District Internal Affairs Department of Minsk and Prosecutor’s Office of Central District of Minsk with the demand to get back the belongings, confiscated during the unlawful search ahead of the European March, and appraise the unlawful actions of the militiamen from the juridical point of view.

Minsk Leninski district court rejected the claim of human rights activist Aleg Vouchak launched to the public prosecutor’s office. Judge Igar Germanovich considered the actions of investigators of the public prosecution of Leninski district regarding Aleg Vouchak appropriate.

An anonymous survey has been held recently in Gomel among journalists. About 20 per cent of the journalists who work in the Gomel region - state newspapers, radio and television, journalists of independent media - took part in the survey. They were proposed to estimate their work and their media along 18 criteria.
