Journalists, detained near Vitebsk, have been set free

The journalists, detained today near village Palyai (Vitebsk district) when performing their professional duties, have been set free.

Alena Stiapanava and Vadzim Barshcheuski were released just after they showed their certificates of Belarusian Association of Journalist (BAJ).

On Siarhei Piatrenka, freelance journalist of “Narodnaya Volia” and Leanid Svetik, author of human rights bulletin “For human rights”, who hadn’t certificates of journalists on them, records of interrogation were drawn.

The participants of the action in memory of Stalin’s repressions victims were detained in Vitebsk. 30 October local activists of the democratic parties and public organizations together with human rights activists held the action of memory on the place of mass executions during Stalin’s repressions in natural landmark Palyai.
