Siamashka offered Miller oil-refinery plants?

7

The meeting of Belarus’ Vice Prime Minister Uladzimir Siamashka and chairperson of the board of Gazprom Aleksei Miller held in Moscow, which wasn’t made public until the last night, came as a surprise for the public.

This time the discussion didn’t touch upon the gas and gas prices issues. As press-service of Gazprom told “KP v Belarusi,” Minsk offered Moscow a range of investment projects. In other words, Siamashka called upon Miller to invest in Belarus. What can attract Gazprom in Belarus?

“Gazprom has much interest in Belarus,” analyst of the investment company “Troika-Dialog” Valeriy Nesterov believes. “The range is wide: chemical fertilizers, power engineering, construction of gas underground depots, electric power stations…”

By the way, establishment of a joint venture on chemical fertilizers production on the basis of the plant Grodnoazot was discussed a month ago. According to “KP v Belarusi,” the more than $ 1 mln project is to be implemented by Gazprom branch enterprise – Gaz-oil.

Moreover, according to the Ministry of Power Engineering, Belarus suggested Gazprom investing $ 300 mln to the construction of a power unit of the new set of Beriozovskaya hydroelectric power station.

“Gazprom now deals with oil too, hence I believe the talks held in Moscow concerned our two oil-refinery plants as well,” economist Leanid Zaika said. “They will probably become joint ventures.”

During his visit to South Korea Prime Minister Siargey Sidorski spoke about the construction of a paraxylene plant in Mazyr. This is the project the concern Belneftekhim is searching an investor for.
