“Will the detained entrepreneurs be released, or wheter they will stand trial, depends on the political decision of the regime,” the Charter’97 press-center has been told by a politician Vyachaslau Siuchyk.
As said by him, the detained organizers of the meeting of the entrepreneurs have three variants: they will be either released as decent citizens, or they will be charged with petty hooliganism, or tried as organizers of the unsanctioned meeting, but the decision would depend on the political will of the country’s leadership. Policemen are waiting for the decision from higher authorities, that is why they do not release anyone. No reports have been drawn up still,” Vyachaslau Siuchyk has emphasized.
As we have informed, one of the leaders of the entrepreneurs’ movement Alyaksandr Makaeu was detained in the run-up to the rally. Since 11 a.m. he is kept in the police department of Maskouski district of Minsk.
Applicants for the rally, Viktar Garbachou, Viktar Kalej and Viktar Kryval were detained after the meeting and are kept in the police department of Tsentralny district of Minsk. The deputy chairman of the Belarusian Popular Front Viktar Ivashkevich was placed there as well.
No exact information is available about the whereabouts of one more applicant, a businessman from Salihorsk Alyaksandr Tsetsura. Vyachaslau Siuchyk has ventured a guess that A. Tsetsura could be taken to Salihorsk.
Meanwhile, after the rally of entrepreneurs its participants met with a chairman of the parliamentary commission on industry, fuel and energy complex, transport, communications and entrepreneurship Anatol Paulovich, who promised to discuss the situation with them in the next few days. He has also guaranteed the participants of the rally that they would not be detained.
