EU condemned crackdown of demonstration «For Independent Belarus!»

EU presidency in Minsk condemned the repressive acts of the Belarusian authorities against peaceful demonstrants on 12 December. It is said in the statement of Slovak Embassy in Belarus.
It should be reminded that Slovak Embassy in Belarus acts as the local EU president on behalf of Portugal.
“Local EU presidency again urges the Belarusian authorities to stop repressions against their own people and require the authorities to allow Belarusians the exercise of fundamental rights of freedom of speech and assembly,” the statement says.
It should be reminded that an action of defence of Belarusian sovereignty timed to visit of Russia’s president Vladimir Putin to Belarusian capital on 13-14 December was organised on 12 December.
Some hundreds of people with white-red-white flags gathered on October Square. They shouted “Long Live Belarus!” and “No unions with Russian Empire!”
Police pushed the protesters out form the square several times. At the Yanka Kupala Park opposition activist Zmiter Hvedaruk fell after beating and hit asphalt with his head, he also received a serious abdominal trauma. He was taken to clinical hospital № 9. Doctors made a diagnosis of brain injury.
