Picket against repeal of benefits held in Mahilyou (Photo)

On December 16 at the site near the city Culture and recreation center a picket against repeal of benefits was held.

The law canceling benefits for many categories of citizens is to come in force tomorrow, December 17. Protest rallies on December 16 were planned in all regions of Belarus, however only 2 applications for holding social pickets, in Mahilyou and Orsha, out of 800, have been sanctions by the authorities, BelaPAN informs.

10 persons have taken part in the picket in Orsha. They held slogans: “Do not deptrive schoolchildren benefits”, “Veterans deserve better life”, “Economizing on the poor and price hike is disgrace to the government”. The picket was held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. Three dozens of pubic activists, mostly elderly people, have come to support the picketers. They stood at a distance from the picketers and handed out the newspaper “Tavaryshch”.

In the beginning of the picket a policeman came up to its applicant, Valey Berazienka. He warned breach of order would be unacceptable, and reminded up to 10 persons were to take part in the picket according to the application.
