“Newsweek”: Objective Information is Received in Belarus

“Newsweek” informs about Belsat launching. People in Belarus will be able to watch objective news reports and programs in Belarusian with the help of a satellite antenna.

Next Monday, December 10, Belsat satellite TV station is to start broadcasting, the magazine notes. The project is mostly financed by Polish state budget with the support of other states and international organizations. Fro example, Lithuanian TV will produce publicistic program “Forum” with the participation of Belarusian intellectuals and politicians. Belsat also tried to involve journalists of Prague-based Radio Svaboda to the project, under the condition of the financial support of the Czech government, the Polish Radio informs.

As said by Belsat managing director Agnieszka Romaszwska, Ireland and the US have already supported the TV channel. The US are to take part in financing the channel. The budget of Belsat is to make about 10.5 mln dollars.

The authors of the project say that Belsat is not only one of the informational channels. Films and serials dubbed in Belarusian are to be broadcast by it, Newsweek informs.
