Internet «to be adjusted» in October

Interdepartmental republican working group on studying experience of the CIS countries and Europe on legal regulation of the Internet mass media activities will submit its first proceedings by mid October. That was reported by the deputy minister for information of the Republic of Belarus Alyaksandr Slabadchuk to the BelTA correspondent.

The working group represented by 15 departments, among them the ministries of information, communication and informatics, justice, foreign affairs, internal affairs, the National Center for Legislature Activities at the President of Belarus, the State Committee for Science and Technologies, Belarusian State University and others, is created with the purpose of drafting the document for regulating the Internet-editions activities in the Republic. Now in Belarus there is no the normative base for this issue regulation. It is not a question of introduction of the control, censorship, and interdiction on the Internet mass media but of determining conditions for information distribution, the Internet-editions activity regulation, Alyaksandr Slabadchuk emphasized.

The group will work through all the particulars for them to be expressed in the draft on a case- by- case basis, the deputy minister of information remarked. Besides, the working group will make a decision on finalizing the document: on whether to make amendments to the effective law on mass-media in Belarus and to introduce a new section into the document or to make an independent document.
