The Ministry of Education offered to issue a new regulation in the rules of entering universities that are to be adopted soon. According to the regulation, applicants for entry should have recommendations to train for some professions.

Minister of education Alyaksandr Radzkou said it to journalists in Minsk on 11 January before the session of workers of education system “On developing the system of general and basic education,” BelaPAN reports.

According to the minister, recommendations will be needed for professions, “especially responsible for representing state positions.” These are foreign affairs, state administration, and journalism.

According to the minister, an applicant who wants to study these specialisations, should have good academic knowledge, and also have an experience of a leader, “for example, be an active member of the Belarusian Republican Youth Union (BRSM, or colloquial, lukamol, similar to komsomol in the USSR).” “In this case an applicant, who has necessary knowledge, is more suitable for such jobs, as, for example, diplomat,” the minister said.
