Yaraslau Ramanchuk: «Sanctions against Belneftekhim is small flick on nose»

4

President of Mises Center Yaraslau Ramanchuk commented the threats of Alyaksandr Lukashenka to the US. The Belarusian expert supposed Lukashenka was afraid of new economic sanctions.

“Belneftekhim is only a small flick on the nose, but if sanctions are imposed against enterprises of Belaruskali, other Belarusian concerns and enterprises, especially banks, it will seriously damage the Belarusian regime,” Yaraslau Ramanchuk thinks.

“Lukashenka fears the restriction from commercial side. In the situation, when nomenclature privatisation is gaining momentum in Belarus, such development can ruin the schemes allowing the Belarusian nomenclature to monetise its power,” the Mises center head said in the interview to “Zavtra Tvoei Strany”.

Yaraslau Ramanchuk also said “the US and the whole world don’t care what the Belarusian authorities will refuse from of agree on.” “If Alyaksandr Lukashenka refused from dollar, he will ‘damage only himself,’” the economist thinks.

“The decision on establishing dollar as a world currency wasn’t taken immediately, and the government of one state can’t solve the problem of refusal from using US currency in the payment system even during ten years... In actual fact, it was a consensus of millions of subjects all over the world, the decision was being accepted during more than 60 years, and refusal from dollar demonstrates not the best economic policy,” Yaraslau Ramanchuk thinks.
