To Wrong Address

3

Co-chairmen of the Political Council of the United Democratic Forces have received an answer to their address from the deputy head of the presidential administration Natallya Pyatkevich. Oppositionists offered to hold direct negotiations between Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s administration and the Political Council of the United Democratic Forces in order to create conditions for holding elections which legitimacy won’t be challenged both inside the country and abroad.

Anatol Lyabedzka, a co-chairman of the Political Council of the United Democratic Forces, says that in the letter they offered the presidential administration to discuss two issues: Electoral Code and its application practice. They believe that it would be a solution to certain problems and the beginning of a dialogue between the regime and opposition.

The general idea of the answer of the deputy head of the presidential administration is that the administration is not in charge of organizing and holding the electoral campaign. “It is very strange, as the leader of the state is among right-holders of legal initiative. And majority of draft laws offered for the “chamber of representatives” are offered by Lukashenka. However Pyatkevich says that it is no concern of their institution, they are not in charge of election campaigns. But at the same time, they stand for free fair elections in Belarus,” the politician said to Radio Svaboda.
