Alyaksandr Lukashenka finds it possible to build mutually beneficial relations with all countries of the Middle East.
“I do not see any obstacles in the friendship with Israel and Arabian world. I can state that honestly, as I want peace on that patch of land,” Lukashenka said to journalists in Minsk after visiting the memorial complex “Yama” in connection with the 65th anniversary of Minsk ghetto’s tragedy.
“We do not have friendship with Arabs against Jews, or friendship with Jews against Arabs,” the Belarusian leader said.
Answering questions of an Israeli journalist relating Iranian nuclear issues, Lukashenka stated that “politicians should sit in front of each other and discuss this problem”. “Passions shouldn’t be heated up, Israeli and Iranians should look into the eyes of each other, and they are ready for that,” the Belarusian leader said.
As said by him, “Jews are a clever nation, and Iranians are no fools”.
“Clever people will grapple with the situation without us, they do not need any mediators there. And if they need one, call us and we will perform our role,” A. Lukashenka said.
Evaluating the recent actions of the European Union on lifting visa sanctions, the Belarusian ruler said that “Europe has made a little step, even half a step, but it is significant one”.
In its turn, Belarus is ready to make “large steps”, as said by him.
Lukashenka has also expressed a “deep” thought that “we are situated in the centre of Europe, Europe is important for us, and we are one nation with Russia and Russians.” Besides, according to him, Russia should have a dominant role in development of integration processes at the post-Soviet territories.
“Georgia has left the CIS, Ukraine is up to something. And why are they leaving so easily? Not much is keeping them. And there should be many things which would keep in the framework of the CIS and EurAsEC,” Lukashenka noted.
