Belarusian customs officers confiscated Ukrainian calendar with white-red-white ribbon

A Ukrainian Orthodox calendar for the year 2009 was confiscated by Belarusian customs officers. Two copies of the edition published in Kyiv were transported by father Anton Prokopchuk, a priest of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Moscow Patriarchate.
Customs officials were alarmed by a white-red-white ribbon on the cover of the Orthodox calendar. They considered it “prohibited symbols” and seized the calendars “for examination”. The calendar is in Ukrainian, and white-red-white colours in this case have Christian meaning, not Belarusian national symbols, the European Radio for Belarus informs.
