Propaganda show of Belarusian pop-stars, ONT state-run TV channel has been showing in Belarusian towns, was presented in Warsaw under title From Belarus with Love”
This project is aimed at improving image of Belarus in European capitals. It was already shown in Vilnius, Saint Petersburg, Kyiv, Moscow, and Riga, Radio Svaboda reports.
The concert was held in one on the biggest stage of Warsaw – Congress Hall, designed for 2000 seats. Admission was available on invitation only. Polish officials, including former prime minister of Poland Leszek Miller, diplomats from a dozen of world countries were present at the concert. The event was spectacular and bright.
However, the rest of the seats were occupied by people, most of them Belarusians, who came by bus from Belsk, Bialystok, Siemiatycz, Hajnowka. Small Belarusian and Polish state flags were put on every seat. But young people transformed Polish white-red flags into national Belarusian white-red-white ones. Besides, some big white-red-white flags appeared in the hall during the concert.
What concerns the gig, it was probably the first time when the Belarusian poop-stars were singing in Belarusian and even in Polish. Alyaksandr Saladukha sang his hit Hello, not My Sweet in Polish. Iryna Darafeeva was dressed in red and green. Only she was presented a huge bunch of flowers during the performance. Pyotr Elfimov, who sang a song by Czeslaw Niemen Dziwny jest ten swiat, was given an ovation.
Ambassador Pavel Latushka said the concert was held through Alyaksandr Lukashenka. After the concert, young people from “Free Belarus” organization were spreading leaflets demanding free elections in Belarus.
