Builders ready to strike again

Workers of Mahilou building department #129 will declare a strike if they are rejected pay rise.

On November 28, wage arrears provoked a strike of 30 builders of Mahilou building department #129. The protest action lasted around an hour, then a chief engineer and deputy director general of Lavsanstroi building trust persuaded the builders to go on working and promised to pay.

According to striker Mikola Rasyuk, the administration of the building trust will be handed in a demand of 1.5-fold increase in wages.

“We demand that issued in November governmental order on 1.47-fold wages rise for builders. Builders of our department didn’t receive increased payment, so, the governmental order wasn’t fulfilled. Our administration says the orders covers only construction works that have been started at the time of signing the order, but we have been building our house for the second year. We can’t agree with it,” Mikola Rasyuk told to radio Svaboda.

If the requirement is not satisfied, builders will go on strike again, he states.
