Website of Belarusian Central Election Commission hacked (screen shorts)

The website of the Central Commission on Election and Referenda (CEC) of the Republic of Belarus was hacked today morning by an unknown hacker under the nickname CATER.

When trying to load http://www.rec.gov.by, a dialog window read The Matrix has you... appears instead of the home page of the CEC.

When clicking OK the text Hacked by CATER, 2008 appears.

Only after that a user can see the homepage, which, by the way, hasn’t been updated since June, 2007. Though the Central Election Commission has recently announced the holding of parliamentary election in September 2008.

Dialog windows with the same text appear when going to other pages. As for 9.00am (Minsk time) the intrusion into the site work hasn’t been fixed.
