Is Viktar Lukashenka to head Brest Region?

Viktar, elder son of Alyaksandr Lukashenka, may head the Brest Region next month. Euroradio learnt it from sources in the region executive committee.

Such talks have appeared after the present head of the region Kanstantsin Sumar refused openly to carry out rates of social and economic development, put by the Belarusian head of state.

Rumours that Viktar Lukashenka may head the region have been circulating among the officials for a long time. They have become especially popular in the back rooms of the executive committee after the authorities acknowledged the region didn’t perform the planned targets.

The reason of the failure is that the Brest Region has no enterprises, which would be able to contribute to economic upturn. Kanstantsin Sumar was repeatedly criticised by Alyaksandr Lukashenka at sessions.
