Leader of the “For Freedom” movement, former presidential candidate Alyaksandr Milinkevich called the Belarusian and international community “to join their protest against further keeping of prisoner of conscience Alyaksandr Kazulin in prison and use all possible means for his immediate release and in order he can lay his wife to rest.”

“Unfair and unlawful keeping of Alyaksandr Kazulin behind the bars is an outrage against morality and humanity,” A. Milinkevich’s address, spread on 24 February, runs. According to the politician, A. Kazulin “should be acquitted and released unconditionally.”

A. Milinkevich said in the interview to BelaPAN: “The authorities acted amorally, not allowed Alyaksandr Kazulin to hold the hand of his wife when she was going to the other world. The authorities know perfectly, in what condition Iryna was, and the bargaining of her husband release was improper and inhuman. If the authorities still have something human, Kazulin should be released.”

Iryna Kazulina died in Minsk on the evening of 23 February. Her husband is serving the term of punishment in the colony “Vitba-3” in the Vitsebsk District. The decision on giving of a short-term leave for A. Kazulin for funeral of his wife hasn’t been taken yet.
