Russian PM Putin to visit Minsk 23 May

A meeting of Council of CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) heads of governments is to be held in Minsk on 23 May. Former Russian president Vladimir Putin will take part in it as a prime minister.

According to Andrei Papou, spokesman of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affaires, the agenda is broad and includes 30 issues – from economic and financial cooperation to legal status of migrant workers.

In particular, participants of the summit will discuss suggestions on transport policy cooperation, food safety issues, a draft Convention on Transfrontier Cooperation between CIS Countries.

Moreover, a draft convention on legal status of migrant workers ad their family members will be considered. “The objective of the project is settlement of legal status of migrant workers and their family members, realisation of a principle of equal treatment to migrant workers and citizens of a host state in everything concerning living and working conditions,” the press service noted.

The press service also said “the need has escalated to transiting of Mir Interstate Television and Radio Company to extended TV and radio broadcast to full performance of tasks on information support of CIS integration processes on a new level of its development.” “Issues on financing of the TV and radio company and creation of TV interstate information pool and mutual exchange of video materials of main socio-political events in the CIS states are discussed, too,” the press service said.
