BPF Branch liquidated in Hrodna

The Supreme Court has liquidated Hrodna regional branch of the Belarusian Popular Front “Adradzhennye”.

“Two years ago we were deprived premises in Karl Marx Street, 11, where Hrodna regional, Hrodna city and two district organisations were registered. IN this connection with today’s tenfold increase of rent for public associations, we haven’t been able to find premises to rent. And it is clear that without premises and legal address the organisation was liquidated,” Radio Svaboda was told by the head of the regional BPF branch Syarhei Malchyk.

“Under the law, an organisation must have a legal address, but such organisations as ours do not have income and exist on donations only. In such conditions we cannot function,” Mr. Malchyk added.
