Authorities preparing “Belarusian Charter”: money urgently needed

30

The law “On Countrymen” is being prepared in Belarus. Its objective is to call on the Belarusians from all over the world to invest in the economy of the country.

Uladzimir Lameka, deputy authorised person for religious and national affairs, said it at a press conference in Minsk dedicated to the World Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.

“A law “On Countrymen” is being worked out in Belarus now. If compare, it will resemble the so called Polish Charter, which is rather good. Similar laws, targeting the countrymen, living abroad, are worked out in many countries,” U. Lameka said.

He also emphasised this law wouldn’t be titled the Belarusian Charter, because the idea of “countrymen” mean many other nationalities, living in Belarus, whose representatives (about 3.5 million people) are citizens of other states.

“As it is known, the main investments in Chinese economy are made by its former citizens, living in other countries. We want it in our country,” U. Lameka said.

He noted the law “On Countrymen” would mean not only economical support of countrymen, but would also call to invest in the economy of the country.
