Prosecutor General of Belarus Ryhor Vasilevich ducked the question of mission opposition politicians Viktar Hanchar, Anatol Krasouski, Yury Zakharanka and journalist Zmitser Zavadski.
At the press conference held today in Minsk Vasilevich was asked a concrete question: “How is the case of missing Viktar Hanchar, Anatol Krasouski, Yury Zakharanka and journalist Zmitser Zavadski coming along?” Vasilevich cynically answered 99 per cent of the missing get in touch themselves, “Narodnaya Volya” newspaper runs.
“An issue on detection of the missing is one of the most important for us,” he said. “We have considered it at an interdepartmental commission, and will return to in on Friday. I’d like to note that 48,000 people have disappeared over the last 5 or 7 years. 99 per cent of them have got in touch themselves. Though the figures should be specified... Undoubtedly, this issue is in the sight of the General Prosecutor Office.”
It should be reminded that the international community suspects minister of internal affaires Uladzimir Navumau, secretary of the Security Council Viktar Sheiman, former minister of internal affaires Yury Sivakou and special forces commander Dzmitry Paulichenka are involved in kidnapping and murders of leaders of the Belarusian opposition and a journalist.
