Action against construction of hazardous plant in Druzhny held in Minsk (Photo)

Action against construction of a chemical plant in Druzhny town (Pukhavichy district) was held in Minsk.

Activists of the “European Belarus” civil campaign organised an action on Vera Kharuzhaya Street, close to Kamarouski Market. Young people wore respirators and made a slogan “Belarus is not a dump” from sheets of paper. Besides, the activists spread around leaflets with information about construction of an environment hazardous enterprise near Minsk.

It should be reminded that dwellers of the Pukhavichy districts, among them inhabitants of the towns Druzhny, Svislach and Rudensk, rigorously oppose construction of a pesticide plant in the district. Numerous protest actions were held in Druzhny town. Syarhei Abrazouski, activist of the initiative group against plant construction was accused of organisation of the actions and the local court sentenced his twice to fines of several millions.

Thousands of signatures of local inhabitants against construction of health and environment hazardous plant have been collected by the initiative group and sent to the Presidential Administration.
