How much does a visit of Russian travelers cost?

Another group of Russian journalists has arrived to Belarus on a visit.

It is a common practice for our country. Wordsmiths from different regions of the neighbouring country are taken to Belarus with certain regularity and are taken to a journey over the country with the aim to receive benefits, that is positive articles about Belarus and its leadership.

Russians are received at the expense of Belarusian tax-payers. And the sum spent for Russian “travelers” remain a secret locked behind seven seals, Narodnaya Volya observes.

This time about two dozens of mass media representatives have arrived to Minsk on a week-long visit. Among them are journalists of the well-known Moscow-based editions like “Nezavisimaya gazeta”, RIA-Novosti informational agency, and others.

The Russians have been accommodated in Planeta hotel. According to reports at the website of the hotel, economy class single room costs $50 for the CIS citizens. One day costs about $1,000 per day only for hotel. And food, presents are to be added…

On the one hand, all these promo-tours are seemingly useful. People see in their own eyes the life in Belarus. On the other hand, having received full board and lodging, they are unlikely to ask “annoying” questions.

For instance, tomorrow Russian journalists are to meet with Uladzimir Navumau, the Interior Affairs Minister. Will anybody of those who admire cleanness of Belarusian streets dare to ask the minister: “Where is Zakharanka?”
