UCP can withdraw its candidates from “election”

The United Civil party (UCP) does not exclude a possibility of withdrawing its candidates for deputies from the “parliamentary elections” a week before the election or earlier. That was said at the 12th extraordinary congress of the party on August 10.

Some of the delegates of the congress expressed the opinion that even now further participation in the “parliamentary election” could be withdrawn, as they would not be democratic anyway. It was also stated that the UCP candidates should be withdrawn at least a week before the election, in order to have time to explain one’s position to voters.

The leader of the UCP Anatol Lyabedzka offered not to hurry when deciding on the term of withdrawing party candidates from the electoral race. “On September 1 the extended session of the political council of the United Democratic Forces will take place. Registered candidates are to be present there as well. The situation with the “parliamentary elections” is to be analyzed there. After adopting the decision by the UDF Political council, we would be able to carry out the second session of the extraordinary congress, where we are to decide on our format of participation in the final stages of the “electoral campaign,” he said.

The politician has called the electoral campaign “a very difficult one”.
