“I greet the release of Alyaksandr Kazulin. He and his family have demonstrated incredible fortitude when defending their rights and views in life,” stated the leader of the civil campaign “European Belarus” Andrei Sannikov.
“Today it is absolutely clear that Lukashenka’s stubbornness, his unwillingness to release Alyaksandr Kazulin, caused imposing f serious economic sanctions against Belarus,” Sannikov believes.
However, as said by the politician, “it is just the first step, demanded by the opposition and the international community”.
“Now it is necessary to release all political prisoners. Cessation of repressions against the opposition and holding really free and democratic elections are to be next items on the agenda. It is possible that postponement of the parliamentary elections should be discussed, as after massive interdiction of opposition representatives’ membership in precinct elections commissions, only an electoral farce could take place on September 28, told one of the leaders of the civil campaign “European Belarus”.
