Putin to arrive to Minsk right after “election” to discuss landmark questions

A meeting of heads of governments of Belarus and Russia Syarhei Sidorski and Vladimir Putin is to take place on October 6 in Minsk in the framework of the session of the so-called “union state”.

More than 15 questions have been submitted for consideration of the “union government”, including cooperation in the financial sphere. The Belarusian prime minister also finds it possible to return to the question of financing of the “union program” “Flax”, which was blocked by the Finance Ministry of Russia in 2006. Besides, at the meeting of the head sof governments it is planned to discuss the agenda of the Supreme State ouncil, Interfax informs.

“There are landmark issues,” Sidorski said.

The head of the Belarusian government ha also reminded that during the last meeting with the Russian prime minister the sides agrees to increase the “union budget” by 20%, and after the realization of the planned programs the increase of financing would continue.

In his turn, the state secretary of the “Union state” Pavel Borodin called increase of the budget by 20% a landmark event. Besides, the state secretary offered to firmly raise the question about coordination of work of a number of key ministries and agencies at the session of the “union government”.

“We should strictly stipulate questions of the collegiate organ’s work. Collegiate organs of Finance Ministries, Economic development ministries do not work still, not speaking about Agriculture Ministry. As a result we see that it is closer to import sugar from Brazil to Russia, than from Belarus,” P. Borodin said. He asked prime minister to raise the question about the work of the abovementioned collegiate organs at the session of the “union” cabinet of Ministers strictly.

Answering the questions of journalists, P. Borodin said that absence of coordination in actions of ministries and agencies, in particular, of agriculture ministries, make it possible to use corporate raids against some Belarusian enterprises. “Corporate raids you are speaking about are possible because collegiate organs of the Agriculture Ministries. Collegiate work of ministries and agencies is needed. They should understand that we are working in a “union state”, P. Borodin said.

P. Borodin has also informed that at the session of the “union” cabinet of ministers 3 new programs are to be considered: cooperation in the sphere of space, in nanotechnologies and in agriculture.
