Member of the organising committee on forming the Belarusian Christian Democracy party Tatsyana Sevyarynets came to a decision on refusal to run in the “election campaign”.
The opposition candidate sent a statement to the election commission saying she refuses to run in the “election” because election legislation is violated systematically during the campaign.
In her statement, Tatsyana Sevyarynets reminded the facts of pressure over her team, which she had to recompose it in order for the people not to lose their jobs. She also reminded censorship by administration of the printing house, which delayed publishing of leaflets, and denial of meeting at enterprises and ban for holding agitation pickets, radio Svaboda reports.
According to the oppositionist, she has though about withdrawal from the “election” since polling station election commissions were formed – no representatives of the democratic society of the Vitsebsk region was included in them. That is why Tatsyana Sevyarynets made no secret for the voter she would probably withdraw her candidature and there remain only one candidate, chairman of the city council Henadz Hrytskevich, in the Vitsebsk Horkauski constituency #17.
Ms Sevyarynets says she is ready to return resources, she has spent for agitation materials, to the state. However, she finds her election campaign useful: she met with many people, who supported her and express readiness to join the Belarusian Christian Democracy.
