Alyaksandr Bukhvostau: Nothing has changed

A press-conference of the United Democratic Forces representatives, Alyaksandr Bukhvostau and Mikalay Pakhabau, has taken place in the head office of the Belarusian Popular Front:

“Nothing has happened from the viewpoint of the process’ democratization. Everything is done in the style which exists in Belarus, when wool is drawn over everybody’s eyes as if there are some changes, as if equal rights are given to everyone, but there are no equal rights. I am convinced about that as a candidate for deputy. While carrying out a campaign, I saw for whom the administration of Zavadski district of Minsk is working. They have “certain” candidates for whom they work. And the same situation is everywhere.

Observation demonstrates that the same principles of preparation for rigging election results remain. It is early voting, when all people are forced to take part in the vote in advance by different methods, intimidation, compulsion or swindle. It’s an attempt to shove forward their candidates using administrative leverage. Conditions have been created for them, meeting were organized at enterprises, in schools and so on. The only thing we could see this time, the presence of the pro-regime candidates who worked in the streets. And everything else is the same. The same total lawlessness in election commissions; polling stations are not ready, there are no lists f voters and so on, nothing has changed considerably. There is a task to fulfill the directives of the Belarusian government,” the politician told.
