Poland’s Ambassador Henryk Litwin: “Election of EU president is beginning of great changes”

Europe will react to the world event quicker, its policy will be more effective, says the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Belarus.
“Election of president and EU’s high representative for foreign affairs and security policy is an important event for the European Union, regardless discussions in mass media. The main thing is that the president has been elected, the Lisbon Treat comes into force and new structures begin operate. This is a very important step after long waiting period, it is beginning of great changes,” Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Belarus Henryk Litwin told in an interview to charter97.org.
According to the Polish diplomat, the EU policy won’t probable change a lot with election of the president and new foreign policy chief, but this will certainly make Europe to “react quicker” and make its policy “more effective”.
We remind that Belgian Prime Minister Herman van Rompuy was elected the first President of the European Council, and EU's trade commissioner British Catherine Ashton was elected High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
