BPF Party withdrew from UDF

The Coalition of the United Democratic Forces does not longer exist, the Council of the BPF party said at its session on November 21.

As party deputy head Ihar Lyalkou explains this decision, no one observes the founding documents on UDF creation, which have become inoperative. According to him, the main governing body of the UDF – the political council – hasn’t gather since 2008, and all principal decision are taken by “some members of the political council presidium”.

Head of the party Alyaksei Yanukevich said the UDF was not considered abroad as a mouthpiece of the opposition opinion.

The BPF council ordered in its resolution that the head and deputy head should start negotiations with all political forces of Belarus on creation a permanent consultative body.

The United Democratic Forces, a coalition of political parties in Belarus, was founded in 2005 at a democratic congress. It was composed of the BPF party, United Civil Party, Belarusian Social Democratic Party. Belarusian Labour Party, Party of Belarusian Communists, Belarusian Women’s Party, and movement “For Free Development of Business”.
