The head of the Conservative Christian Party BPF comments on the statement of foreign ministers of Belarus, Lithuania, and Ukraine on creating common energy space within the Eastern Partnership initiative.
“These are good intentions, but they will lead to nothing if Lukashenka deals with it. This is an absolutely hopeless situation. Something inside the country must be changed. We’ll see no results while this regime exists. The Eastern Partnership programme was launched a year ago, but we see no results, the situation has become even worse. The internal policy is aimed at elimination of the nation. Such a policy can’t lead to success in economy, culture, policy,” Zyanon Paznyak told in an interview to Radio Svaboda.
We remind that it was arranged in Kyiv that Ukrainian electric energy would be delivered to Lithuania via Belarus. The foreign ministers also discussed developing the dialogue on visa-free issues, using opportunities for transit, developing transport infrastructure, and improvement of Minsk–Kyiv highway.
Syarhei Martynau said documents on the Belarusian–Ukrainian border infrastructure development are being worked out. Besides, the foreign ministers of Belarus, Ukraine, and Lithuania agreed on joint celebration of the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald. President of Ukraine Viktor Yushchenko said on TV that Belarus and Ukraine had agreed to joint efforts to represent interest of the two countries in the Eastern partnership initiative. According to Yushchenko, joints efforts will be more effective for the countries when they introduce a range of projects within Eastern Partnership project regarding both states.
