The Prosecutor’s Office has issued a warning to the leader of Brest branch of “Young Front” Yuliya Pashko.
The pro-democracy activist received summons to come to Brest regional prosecutor’s office. “When I appeared in the prosecutor’s office, I was asked to sign a warning stating that for activities on behalf an unregistered organisation I can be brought to criminal responsibility. It was really unexpected while the Justice Ministry states that Article 193-1 of the Criminal Code could be possibly cancelled, and the prosecutor’s office is issuing warnings of such a nature,” Yuliya Pashko said.
Not long ago “Young Front” activist Mikhas Illyin received analogous warning as well.
Starting from 2006, 17 activists of democratic organisations were found guilty of violating Article 193-1 of the Criminal Code and were sentenced to restriction of freedom, imprisonment or huge fines. This article is considered anti-constitutional in Europe.
