Alyaksandr Lukashenka offers Iran to develop bilateral trade and economic relations and implement the agreements achieved earlier more actively.

“Please pass the spiritual leader and the president of Iran that we are to fulfil achieved agreements. We are expecting greater efforts in implementing projects which had been outlined. It would be not only a benefit for us, which is obvious, but benefit for mutual onward progress, benefit for the economy of Iran,” Lukashenka stated during the meeting with the head of the judicial system of Iran Mahmoud Shahroudi, Interfax reports.

A. Lukashenka noted that “Belarus has chosen Iran as its key partner in this region”. “We are happy that Iranian leadership made advances to us, and we want our cooperation to grow and expand,” the Belarusian leader said. As said by him, “trade turnover which has reached $100 mln is too little. That is why we expect greater commotion in trade and economic cooperation”.

The Belarusian leader welcomed the head of the judicial system of Iran as a man “who is very influential not only in Iran, but in the international arena.” “Your visit is a confirmation that good relations have established between all branches of power between Belarus and Iran. We are highly interested in cooperation of all branches of power to continue, and I will support that in every possible way,” Lukashenka noted.

In his turn, Mahmoud Shahroudi said that “from our point of view, relations between Iran and Belarus are friendly and very close”. “High-ranking officials in our country are interested in deepening and strengthening relations in all spheres,” the head of the judicial system of Iran said. He informed that before his visit to Minsk he met with president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who spoke about importance of relations with Belarus. “He believes all signed documents should be implemented and come into force,” Mahmoud Shahroudi said. Making reference to statements of Iranian president, he also added that “the turnover does not correspond to the potential of the two countries”.

Mahmoud Shahroudi has also stated that the two states “have close views in the international arena”.
