Oppositionist to stand trial for distribution of independent press

Ivan Kruk, an activist of the United Civil Party, is charged with dissemination of newspapers without required imprint.
The head of the legal department of the Information Ministry Liliya Bohdan believes that Ivan Kruk has violated article 22 of the Law on Press, and requirements of the government standard 7.5-95 which concerns imprint. In particular, it is said that the founder, the editor-in-chief and the address of the editorial office are not published in the newspaper, baj.by informs.
The activist is to stand trial for giving a few independent newspapers to a dweller of Astravets (one copy of each newspaper). As stated by the report, they included “Astravetski vestnik”, issues 1 and 2, “Mirny Atam” (Peaceful Atom), “Glotok vozdukha” and “Novy Chas”. After Ivan Kruk left, policemen approached the man. All the newspapers except “Novy Chas” were seized by them.
A report on administrative violation was drawn up against the UCP activist Ivan Kruk. He is charged with “distribution of periodicals without imprint”. The materials of the case have been sent to the court of Astravetski district.
