Belarusian dictatorship congratulated on Iranian one with “successful elections”

A delegation of the “national assembly” of Belarus has visited Iran amid mass protest rallies against rigged election results.

During the meeting with the Speaker of the Belarusian upper chamber Barys Batura in Teheran, Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki expressed hope that the positive tendency in bilateral cooperation is to continue in the future, Radio Svaboda informs with a reference to Iranian IRIBNews Agency.

As noted by Barys Batura, the Belarusian “parliament” has announced its support for expansion of free trade ties between the two countries. As said by him, the relation between the two countries would bring more benefits for the nations.

Earlier, during the meeting with Iranian Commerce Minister Masoud Mir-Kazemi, the head of the “council of republic” stated that Belarus expects opening of a new bank with Iranian capital in Minsk soon.

In the person of Manouchehr Mottaki Barys Batura congratulated the nation and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the presidential elections which “had been held successfully”.

In his turn, the leadership of Iranian Foreign Ministry noted that Iran and Belarus have strategic ties.

It should be reminded that protests demonstrations against opposition go on in Iran. They began in Tehran about a week ago, after results of the presidential elections of June 12 had been announced. According to their results, Ahmadinejad got 62.63% of the votes, his main challenger, Mir Hossein Mousavi collected 33.75% of the votes. Mousavi accused the authorities of rigging the elections results.

On June 20, the eight day of the opposition protects against rigging the results of the presidential elections, the Iranian police used arms, water cannons, batons, and tear gas. Besides police, Basij militia took part in suppressing the rallies.

According to different sources, from 13 to 30 people were killed. Tehran hospitals report about hundreds of people with gun, stab and incision wounds, poisoned with gas.
