Head of EU and Swedish foreign policy met with Belarusian oppositionists

Making a decision on granting loans to Belarus, the European Union will take into account political criteria, too, Swedish minister for foreign affairs Carl Bildt told at a meeting with representatives of Belarusian opposition.

Paval Sevyarynets, a participant of the meeting, told about its results. Politicians, public leaders, and human rights activists Alyaksandr Kazulin, Anatol Lyabedzka, Uladzimir Navasyad, Artur Finkevich, Alyaksei Yanukevich, Tatsyana Ravyaka, Zhanna Litvina, and Alyaksandr Lahvinets are paying a visit to Stockholm.

Besides, Bildt assured the Belarusians that the EU was going to react to the brutal dispersal of a rally in Minsk on September 16.

According to Sevyarynets, he spoke at the meeting with the Swedish minister about political prisoners in Belarus, New Life Church, BCD’s failure to register, and article 193-1 of the Criminal Code providing criminal responsibility for activity on behalf of an unregistered organization.

The Belarusian delegation plans to meet with Swedish MPS, governor of the capital of Sweden, and NGO representatives.
