Is Europe’s dialogue with the regime of Alyaksandr Lukashenka justifiable? Marshal of the Seim of Poland Bronislaw Komorowski answered this question in an interview to www.charter97.org.
The Marshal of the Seim was asked this in Gdansk, where he took part in the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Solidarity movement victory in the first free elections.
“No European countries support democracy in Belarus as Poland. The Belarusian independent TV channel Belsat works in Poland. By every their action Polish politicians try to support Belarus’s aspiration to democracy.
The dialogue between Belarus and Europe will be carried out within the frames of the Eastern Partnership programme. We must respect international law and face reality. We deal with the Belarusian authorities because it is the only government in Belarus, you don’t have another one. But the whole world wishes democracy to the Belarusians,” Bronislaw Komorowski said.
