Nobody doubted that Alyaksandr Lukashenka won’t take part in the energy summit in Georgia scheduled for January 14.
As it has bee reported, presidents of Poland, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, as well as leaders of the Baltic states, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan are to attend the summit, AFN news agency reminds.
The event takes places amid the Belarus–Russia oil conflict, but Lukashenka still remains an unwanted guest at most former Soviet republics and Eastern Europe countries.
it wasn’t even planned that even a governmental delegation will represent Belarus at the energy summit, though, judging by statements by Belarusian officials, Minsk is interested in alternative routes of oil flow to the country and projects on oil supplies from the Caspian Region to Europe.
Alyaksandr Tsimashenka, spokesperson for the Belarusian PM, confirmed representatives of the government do not plan to visit Georgia in the nearest time. He also said he didn’t see any documents relating business trips of appropriate ministries’ representatives to Georgia.
It should be noticed that former presidential candidate John McCain will represent the United States at the energy summit.
