A sitting focused on establishing the Hrodna city electoral commission for elections to the local councils was held on January 29.
As Zmitser Slutski, the head of the Hrodna city UCP organization, told ucpb.org, 23 persons applied for membership in the commission. Eight out of thirteen members of the commission are representatives of public associations and unions, namely the union of veterans, women, trade union of workers of education and science, BRSM, Belaya Rus, and a representative of the Fair World party.
To a question why representatives of governmental bodies are elected to electoral commissions, but big political parties stands on the sidelines, Hrodna mayor Barys Kazyankou presiding of the sitting, answered that a UCP representative had been included in the regional commission and a Fair World representative had been included in the city commission that was enough.
