A meeting of the candidate for presidency in Belarus, Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, and the head of his campaign headquarters Andrei Dzmitryeu with the head of the Foreign Affairs Ministry Radoslaw Sikorski.
Addressing Polish journalists, Minister Sikorski said that Poland takes keen interest in the pre-election situation in Belarus and aims to meet with all candidates for presidency in Belarus. “In this way we express out concern over the quality of the election in Belarus. As the closest neighbour, we are interested in a high level of the election process’s conformity with the European standards.”
“Unfortunately, – as Mr Sikorski noted, – many facts I learn show a low level of democracy at the upcoming elections, however, there is still time to change something and give foreign observers grounds to witness that changes for the better has really taken place. Poland and Polish people, – the minister summed up, – have a feeling of solidarity with the Belarusian nation. No matter who will win this presidential election, we are ready to be agents of Belarus’ interests in Poland an din the European Union.”
Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu expressed gratitude to the Foreign Minister of Poland for his interest in the processes inside Belarus.
A meeting of Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu with the International committee of the Polish Parliament and presentation of the poem “Polonaise” by Nyaklyaeu in Belarusian, Ukrainian and Polish and with graphics of a well-known Belarusian artist Uladzimir Vishnyou is planned for today.
