Ostensible “liberalization”: Barys Khamaida gets early release

The prosecutor’s office of the Chyhunachny district of Vitsebsk appealed against the ruling of the court.

We remind that the court of Vitsebsk sentenced activist Barys Khamaida to five days of arrest for “organizing and holding an unauthorized picket”, Euroradio informs.

On November 22, Khamaida and member of CCP BPF party Yan Dzyrzhautsau showed posters in Vitsebsk center calling to boycott the presidential election. Two hours after the street action had started the activists were detained. Yan Dzyarzhautsau was fined, Khamaida was sentenced to 5 days of arrest.

Barys Khamaida has been released today from a temporary detention facility where he has been serving his term of arrest.
