No sanctions followed against the presidential candidates, who organized the meeting with voters on November, 24 at Oktyabrskaya Square.
The event was held in protest against the participation of Alyaksandr Lukashenka in the next presidential election and was timed to the 14-th anniversary of the constitutional referendum, initiated by him. The event was held in the format of a meeting with voters of the presidential candidates Rymasheusky Vital, Mikalai Statkevich and Uladzimir Nyaklyaeu, BelaPAN reports.
Oktyabrskaya Square of Minsk is not the place allowed for campaigning for presidential candidates. Rymasheusky and Statkevich received an official warning by the General Prosecutor’s Office for public appeals to voters to come to the Square and they may be deprived of candidate status.
As a representative of Vital Rymasheusky Pavel Sevyarynets informed BelaPAN that the Central Election Commission is to discuss sanctions against Rymasheusky for holding this action on November, 30. “Our representative in the CEC Tatsiana Shaputska received a telegram with the invitation to this meeting. Rymasheuvsky will also be present there” – Sevyarynets said.
Another candidate for presidency and organizer of the action on November, 24 Mikalai Statkevich said that he had not received any warning by the General Prosecutor’s Office. “All wrote that the warning had been given to me. But I don’t have officially this warning. Some people came, tried to foist me some papers ... I have enough papers of my own, why should I have one more”- the politician said.
