TV presentations of democratic candidates were like a knockdown blow for the Belarusian ruler.
Alyaksandr Lukashenka said he didn’t see any difference between alternative presidential candidates and asked his agents to “explain this to people” during the election campaign.
“We need to give a picture of these persons, the alternative candidates. We need to explain th4re’s no difference between them,” Lukashenka said in Minsk on Monday during his meeting with his agents, Interfax-Zapad news agency reports.
“I know their true nature. They have the same roots. They, the alternative to the current power, these white-red-white supporters, aim at forceful Belarusization. They are clearly pro-western,” he said adding that they would like to “sell the state property”.
“They use Russia to show there’s difference between them and to steal votes from the sitting president,” Lukashenka said.
That’s why he thinks, “These nine people have an ideological portrait.”
Lukashenka also spoke about live TV presentations of the candidates.
“The demanded live broadcasting, they got it. Now they, or their advisors and ideologists, say they’d better hadn’t used live broadcast. They thought they are great speakers. They thought they would say a couple of words and people rush to give their votes for them. It’s not so easy as it turns out,” the ruler said. As to the candidate who told about his contribution to negotiations on non-nuclear status of Belarus, the dictator said Belarus hadn’t received anything in exchange of removing the nuclear weapons, but “it (the weapons – Interfax) is huge money”.
The ruler said in case of a victory, the opposition allegedly wanted to sell Russia the Belarusian pipeline system and oil refineries, though none of the candidates told such things. “They receive payments, but they will have to pay off,” he said.
