BRSM to conduct exit polls under umbrella of Ukrainian company

Politologist Yury Chavusau expressed this opinion to BELSAT TV channel.

Representatives of the pro-presidential BRSM organization will conduct exit polls under the umbrella of TNS Ukraine company, the politologist says. Yury Chavusau reminded that independent organizations refused to carry out these polls due to pressure from the authorities. The politologist also supposes that the authorities can even allow open vote count on December 19, because the early voting will ensure necessary figures for Alyaksandr Lukashenka to win.

“Ratings are not an element of scientific sociology, but an element of PR,” politologist Yury Chavusau says. “We do not notice great difference in ratings on the basis of the date retrieved by sociologists. What we see is very different figures sociologists focus on when presenting their surveys to the press.”

The fact that the survey is ordered by ONT channel proves that the authorities want the election campaign to look pro-Western. “In the neigbouring counties, such researches are usually carried out by independent media. An exit poll is in certain sense an instrument of struggling among the media in their desire to announce the voting results as early as possible. But it is not an instrument to dispute the results,” Yury Chavusai explains.
