Vladimir Voinovich: I wish you, your husband and all your friends to be freed as soon as possible

In his blog at Grani.ru website a famous Russian writer, poet and playwright Vladimir Voinovich has written words of support to Iryna Khalip, the arrested Belarusian journalist and wife of Andrei Sannikov, a presidential candidate.

Dear Iryna!

If you remember, we met about 20 years ago in Minsk, when Belarusian filmmakers planned to make a film based on my novel “Moscow 2042”. The film was not made, but it looks as if my gloomy fantasies are being realized in Moscow and in Minsk ahead of time. You arrest, threats to your family, and the trial over Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev in Khamovniki court are clear evidence of that.

I wish you, your husband and all your teammates to be released as soon as possible, and I wish Belarus to be liberated from the dictatorship and its barbarian and ignorant ruler.
